You can support the and gun control, it is not either or. However, you would never know that if you talk with most of the people in the 21st-century in America. I support the 25/25 Solution to Mass Murders which calls for both law enforcement and the public to give up their semi-automatic weapons of all kinds. The militarization of our police in this nation is also a big part of this. We do not have to live in this world where so many people can get gunned down within seconds or where our police departments act like they are our military. We choose the kind of society we live in. We do not have to live like this.
We can go back to the way it was not too long ago where people had handguns, rifles, and shotguns. These people that claim they need to have these semi-automatic weapons or that they have a right to it, due to the 2nd Amendment, are flat out wrong and out of their freaking minds. The Supreme Court has already ruled that we can regulate guns and it is time we change the entire culture over this subject.
Gun rights people, in large part, are fanatics over their semi-automatics. The question is why? Why can’t they settle for a normal gun culture? The reason has to do with brain science. Semi-automatic weapons are heroin to these people. It does not matter whether it is law enforcement or the public, they are hooked on it. When they discharge these weapons that shoot as fast or almost like a machine gun, their brain releases dopamine and they get a high from it. The rush they feel shooting these kinds of guns is very similar to what it feels like when a heroin addict gets his fix.
So, asking these people to put down these types of guns is like asking an addict to put down his needle. They are not the people to solve this social problem. We don’t ask heroin addicts to shape our society or culture in their image, we leave that up to the rest of the people whose brains are not compromised. This is no different. There is no right to have these types of weapons in the Constitution, no matter what they say. We’re going to need to solve this problem without their input.
If we want to make a dent in these mass killings, then the rest of us will have to pass laws that ban their use. There are only five million NRA members; there are more of us than them. It is time we start to understand that and do something. It is time for a paradigm shift in the way we think and debate this subject. Time to confront the addict.
