Details about the upcoming Captain Marvel film, set to debut in theaters March 8, 2019, have been kept under wraps. During today’s Marvel Studios Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Feige revealed some of the first bits of information about the upcoming project, all of which have us incredibly excited.

In addition to showing some concept art for the film, Feige revealed that the storyline would take place in the ’90s, would prominently feature Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, and the main villains would be the shape-shifting aliens the Skrulls. The crowd erupted at the ideas Feige presented, especially knowing that Nick Fury would have both of his eyes, giving audiences some idea of when he received the injury.

One question that this information presents is that, with cast as Carol Danvers and the knowledge that she will appear in next year’s Avengers: Infinity War, how old will Danvers be? With the timeline of the MCU being somewhat similar to ours, it would mean that at least 20 years will have passed between her appearance in her solo film and the events of Infinity War, but will she have aged?

Marvel has previously used de-aging techniques in their films, making Michael Douglas look younger for a flashback in Ant-Man and Robert Downey Jr. look younger for a flashback in Captain America: Civil War, and has also aged Hayley Atwell for Captain America: Winter Soldier, so we wonder if either of these techniques will be implemented.

It’s also possible that, given the cosmic nature of Captain Marvel’s powers, they could have an impact on her “aging” process, but we can’t help but wonder how these details will be worked out in the upcoming films.

Additionally, if Captain Marvel and Nick Fury have seemingly been working together since the ’90s, why has she not yet appeared in any other adventures the Avengers have engaged in?

We’ll at least have to wait until Avengers: Infinity Wars hits theaters May 4, 2018.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming are both in theaters now, and will be followed by Thor: Ragnarok on November 3, 2017. After that Black Panther debuts on February 16, 2018, while Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4, 2018. Ant-Man and the Wasp is slated for July 6, 2018, followed by on March 8, 2019.
