DALE, Okla. () – Pottawatomie County officials have confirmed two of four have been brought back into custody.
Around 9 p.m. Tuesday night, deputies say they . According to the sheriff, the two men were identified by fishermen.
Authorities say they had the men pinned down and used the OHP helicopter to help find the escapees exact locations.
Shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday, the under-sheriff announced Goodnight was brought into custody. About 20 minutes later, Irvin was also captured by deputies.
Irvin had been jailed in Lincoln County on a murder conviction, while Goodnight was in for property crimes.
Authorities have been on the hunt for the two men, as well as Brian Moody and Sonny Baker, who escaped from the Lincoln County Jail between the hours of 1 and 4 a.m. June 12, the four men escaped the jail through the ventilation system of the Chandler facility.
Moody and Baker remain at large as of Wednesday morning.
Authorities are searching for two vehicles in connection to the escape. It is believed the inmates stole a nearby 2001 white Dodge Q-15 truck with the Oklahoma tag ARU601. At approximately 7:40 a.m. authorities received information that Irvin and Goodnight were in the Shawnee-area in a stolen, red over silver Dodge pickup with the Oklahoma tag AHF257.
The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office reports that the white Dodge pickup was spotted by an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper Monday afternoon. The trooper attempted to stop the vehicle and a pursuit began. The vehicle stopped just south of State Highway 9 along State Highway 102 and was left on the side of the road. Several people were spotted running from the vehicle. Authorities shut down SH 102 near the intersection for several hours as they searched the area.
The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office says do not attempt to approach the escapees, instead to remain aware and report anything suspicious to 911 immediately.
