It’s the calm before the Stormtroopers, with The Last Jedi panel at Star Wars Celebration is about to begin.
Writer-director Rian Johnson, who spent the wee hours of Thursday night , tweeted out the photo below as the first major reveal of The Force Awakens sequel drew near.
What’s in store? With luck, we’ll hear Luke Skywalker finally speak after more than three decades. Since the film picks up immediately after the last, we can assume there’ll be some Rey training action with the man who was described as the last of his Force-wielding order.
There are also new characters to meet, played by Laura Dern, Benicio del Toro, and Kelly Marie Tran. At the very end, expect a trailer. (And if there isn’t one, expect a riot.)
Hang tight. We’ll start soon.
It’ll just take a few moments to get the coordinates from the navicomputer.
— Josh Gad is hosting the panel. It kicks off with some of his social media videos, peppering Daisy Ridley with Star Wars questions. “If I weren’t up here, I’d be out there with you guys,” he tells the crowd. “I remember watching the original trilogy on VHS, which for those of you who are millennials in the audience is the same technology Wall-E uses to watch movies.”
